Operation SOL Protection
Novembrer 3310
On November 28, 3310 (2024), the last remaining Titan suddenly departed the Col 285 Sector BA-P c6-18 system, where it had arrived on December 8, 3308. Reports quickly emerged suggesting that the SOL system, the cradle of humanity, was a potential target. By the afternoon, the SOL system was placed under Thargoid alert, and civilian evacuation protocols were initiated. The SOL system is home to over 22 billion inhabitants.
Phase 1: Civilian Evacuation
On the evening of November 28, Medicorp initiated Operation “SOL Shield,” with its first mission focusing on evacuating civilians and the injured.
Simultaneously, Medicorp deployed its two Fleet Carriers to different systems to prepare for any contingency:
- MHS Hippocrates was stationed in the YIN SECTOR CL-Y D127 system.
- MHS Louis Pasteur was stationed in the LHS 449 system.
Despite numerous hyperdictions, operations continued unabated. These incidents, nearly systematic upon leaving SOL to reach the Rescue Ship, posed significant challenges in transporting civilians and injured individuals. Medicorp advised its rescuers to use fast ships (see our shipyard) and remain calm if their FSD drive was disabled by Thargoid interceptors.
Tip: To avoid FSD deactivation, you can passively neutralize the disabling missile using ECM (Electronic Countermeasures). Its 3 km range is sufficient to deactivate both the missile and the drones deployed by Thargoid interceptors attempting to hack your cargo hold. The ECM must be used in “combat” HUD mode.
Phase 2: Rescuing SOL
On Thursday, December 5th, the titan Cocijo enters orbit around Earth, in the SOL system, while the system is still undergoing evacuation. Chaos ensues, panic spreading across SOL and nearby systems. Over 10 systems are struck by this final assault, with numerous stations destroyed or heavily damaged.
The fate of most Rescue Ships is sealed: out of the 11 mega rescue vessels, 8 are destroyed within the SOL system or nearby. The wreckages of the Federal Haven (Sol), Bertschinger (Sol), Foerster (Sol), Kisseih (Wolf 359), Cavell (Alpha Centauri), Yoshida (Barnard’s Star), and Seacole (Wise 1506+7027) remain accessible, but nothing more than their carcasses can be salvaged.
Only the Hutner and the Cornwallis remain operational. As for the Medicorp mega-vessels, they are still intact:
- MHS Hippocrates was stationed in the YIN SECTOR CL-Y D127 system.
- MHS Louis Pasteur was stationed in the LHS 449 system.
MediCorp’s Rescue Operations Intensify
MediCorp’s rescue operations escalate, with priority given to rescuers focusing on damaged stations and bases. However, evacuations of civilians and the injured become increasingly challenging due to the numerous Thargoid ships and relentless interceptions near the installations.
Phase 3: Extract the Remaining Hostages
Early in the morning of December 17, 3310, the last heart of Cocijo fails, and the titan immediately goes into meltdown. As soon as the information is officially confirmed, the third and final phase of Operation Medicorp is launched. The countdown begins, leaving less than 24 hours to extract as many hostages as possible from the dying thargoid Bio-storage capsules.
All rescuers are called to converge on SOL and take part in the extraction operations. On this occasion, Medicorp decides to compile a record of achievements, highlighting the three most dedicated rescuers, listed below.
On December 18, 3310, barely 24 hours after Cocijo went into meltdown, the titan exploded, leaving a grim reminder of the mothership’s ominous presence in Earth’s orbit. During the explosion, a mysterious and unique sound was heard, sparking new speculations!
The explosion marks the end of Operation Sol Shield, one of MediCorp’s largest undertakings.
