The AI of the MHS Hippocrates
When the reclassification project for the MHS Hippocrates became a necessity (see the Hippocrates page), one of the main challenges was the simultaneous management of a very large number of systems and services. To meet this need, an autonomous management artificial intelligence was developed by a consortium of researchers and engineers, supervised by MediCorp rescue personnel, including CMDR Siegfried-Origin.
ALTA, short for Autonomous Logistics & Tactical Administration (or Administration Logistique et Tactique Autonome), entered service in August 3311.
Prior to this, it had already begun interacting with pilots through an initial announcement. Historical note: this archived message mentions Larrey, which was originally intended to be the new name of the Hippocrates. Due to widespread dissatisfaction in Kalak (which even led to riots) over the loss of the name Hippocrates, the SFC ultimately retained the ship’s original name, and ALTA was reprogrammed accordingly.
Designed to manage hundreds of critical subsystems simultaneously, ALTA operates on an embedded quantum neural network capable of processing massive volumes of real-time data from medical, navigation, maintenance, and logistical services. Its modular architecture allows it to optimize resource flows, automatically prioritize emergencies, and simulate multiple scenarios to anticipate potential issues. Thanks to its adaptive interface, pilots and crew can interact with it through voice commands, tactile holograms, or traditional consoles, while benefiting from predictive incident analysis and autonomous management of critical systems — from life support stabilization to the coordination of rescue missions.

Escape Pod Management
A sector-based pod storage system allows ALTA to optimize the storage and handling of escape pods according to their type, status (occupied, damaged, or unoccupied), and priority level.
Additionally, ALTA analyzes data from the pods in real time, assessing their condition and contents. It can determine whether a pod requires emergency extraction, specific maintenance, or priority transport to an accredited station. This analysis is particularly crucial for Thargoid bio-confinement pods, which require strict safety protocols.
ALTA is also interconnected with the MedicAlert system, allowing rescue personnel to receive real-time alerts for areas requiring intervention, thereby optimizing rescue operations.
This synergy between ALTA, pod sectorization, and MediCorp’s tools ensures efficient and secure management of evacuation pods, significantly strengthening the organization’s rescue capabilities.
However, ALTA is not yet operating at its full potential, and several development paths are currently being explored to enhance interaction between the AI and rescue crews even further.

ALTA for Rescue Pilots
Note: The ALTA voice files are in French, but you can translate them if you wish. Simply replace the text files (keeping the same file names) located in: \ALTA VOICE\config\VoicePack\ALTA\sounds
ALTA is now available to all rescue pilots. Bring the MHS Hippocrates’ AI with you anywhere in the galaxy to monitor your ship’s systems and alert you to its operational status. Specific MediCorp operation messages are also included in this COVAS. ALTA is compatible with both your ship and your SRV.
Below you will find instructions to install and use “COVAS – ALTA by MediCorp.”
This tool was developed by CMDR Siegfried-Origin to create increased immersion for rescue pilots.
Important Note regarding how this COVAS works: this program is autonomous and plays audio messages layered over the game’s official COVAS. It reads your game logs and triggers voice lines based on your situation. It does not interact with, modify, or alter any game files in any way.
REQUIREMENTS
To run ALTA in a MediCorp ship cockpit, several rules must be followed.
If any of these conditions are not met, ALTA will detect it, warn you, and automatically deactivate itself. It will then be replaced by a fallback COVAS.
To hear ALTA, you must:
- Have no weapons installed on your ship
(MediCorp ships never carry weapons) — ALTA will not operate if you have lasers or mining tools. - Have no point-defense modules installed in your external utility slots
(considered a weapon by MediCorp). - Have a ship ID of:
MEDICorMDIC*
(*Note: your ship’s name is entirely up to you.) - Have launched the game at least once, so that the log files are generated and readable.
*Note: Your ship’s name is unrestricted.
OPERATION
Download the archive and extract it to a directory of your choice.
The folder contains all the sound files, the executable, and the files required for the program to function correctly.
No installation is required — simply launch the executable to run the program.
You may start the game either before or after launching the ALTA COVAS; it makes no difference. Likewise, you may close the program at any time during gameplay if you wish; ALTA will then deactivate.
To launch ALTA COVAS, run the file EDVoice.exe.
Windows may display a warning message — you can safely allow the program to run.
